LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Winners of a season-high matching four in a row and eight-of-10, Manhattan (12-10; 9-4 MAAC) travels to Rider (15-9; 9-4 MAAC) for a rematch of January's thrilling tilt that the Broncs pulled out in overtime.
TOP STORYLINES
#1 - The Jaspers will be looking to avenge a loss to the Broncs back on Jan. 18 while extending their winning streak to a season-high five.
#2 - In the team's first meeting, Rider escaped with a three-point overtime victory thanks to shooting 57.4 percent from the floor.
#3 - Manhattan is 13-2 in the months of February and March since the start of last season and is 19-5 over the last two-plus years.
QUICK HITS
* Winners of four in a row, Manhattan ripped off a 21-3 second-half run in besting Canisius 78-69 at Draddy Gymnasium on Friday.
* The victory marked the third series sweep of the year for the Jaspers (Saint Peter's, Monmouth).
* Since head coach Steve Masiello took over for the 2011-2012 season, Manhattan has recorded 16 series sweeps.
* At Rider, the Jaspers will be looking to avoid just the fifth series sweep during that time.
* The Broncs lead the all-time series by a 23-21 count, including a 22-15 advantage since Rider joined the MAAC (1997-1998).
* Under Masiello, his teams have won each of the last three road meetings between the teams by an average of 14.7 ppg.
* Previous to that, Manhattan had lost eight in a row in New Jersey and 13-of-14 since Rider joined the MAAC.
* Under Masiello, the Jaspers are 2-0 this season when playing in New Jersey and 9-0 since his arrival in Riverdale for the 2011-2012 campaign.
* Manhattan was victorious before an ESPN3 audience on Friday night thanks to a dominating defensive effort that forced Canisius into a season-high 20 turnovers while limiting the Golden Griffins to just 31.1 percent shooting, including 27.8 percent from long range.
* In the Jaspers' game-changing 21-3 second-half opening spurt, Manhattan forced Canisius into nine-straight missed shots and seven turnovers.
* The aforementioned 20 miscues marked the seventh time this season the Jaspers had forced the opposition into at least 20 while atoning from their previous match-up with Canisius as the Golden Griffins turned it over just seven times, a season-low for Manhattan.
* The Jaspers continue to rank fourth nationally with a MAAC-best 17.1 forced turnovers and has pressured the opposition into at least 16 turnovers in 16 of their 22 games.
* Manhattan also is first in the MAAC and 59th nationally with 7.5 steals per game while ranking second in the league and 63rd overall with a +1.9 turnover margin.
* Manhattan has now recorded at least 10 steals for the third-straight game and is 4-1 when doing so this year and 15-1 dating bac k to last season. Additionally, under Masiello the Jaspers are 26-4 when registering at least 10 steals, including 18-1 against MAAC opposition.
* Manhattan also improved to a perfect 10-0 when leading at the half and 7-1 in 10-point games during MAAC.
* In those 10-point games, the Jaspers are shooting 77.1 percent from the line while limiting the oppostion to just 40.5 percent shooting, including 20.8 percent from deep while posting a +0.8 rebounding margin.
* When playing at Draddy Gymnasium, Manhattan is 7-1 this year and has won 11-of-12 and 16-of-18.
* After starting the season 0-6 on the road, the Jaspers have claimed three-of-four away from the friendly confines of Draddy Gymnasium.
* In the win over Canisius, senior Emmy Andujar narrowly missed the first triple-double in school history while finishing with 20 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while hitting for at least 20 for the third-straight game and the seventh time in nine games.
* Andujar, who scored a season-high 27 points at Monmouth last Sunday, is averaging 20.1 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 3.8 apg and 2.3 spg while shooting 54.7 percent from the floor and 71.6 percent form the line.
* Andujar, who is the only player in school-history to notch 1,000 points, 600 rebounds, 300 assists and 100 steals, has scored at least 20 points on nine occasions and 11 times in his career.
* On the year, Andujar leads the squad and ranks among the MAAC leaders in scoring (16.1-6th), rebounding (7.0-6th), assists (3.4-5th), steals (1.9-2nd) (65th NCAA), field goal percentage (.529-2nd) (50th NCAA), offensive rebounds (2.7-4th) and defensive rebounds (4.3-9th).
* Andujar also moved into 25th place on the Jaspers' all-time scoring list with 1,161 points and with nine will match former teammate Michael Alvarado. He is also eighth with 327 assists and 10th with 142 steals while his 673 rebounds are just outside the top-10.
* Junior Shane Richards keyed the Manhattan sweep of Canisius by averaging 17.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg while shooting 43.8 percent (7-of-16) from deep and recently became the first player in school history to record 200 three pointers.
* Richards continues to rank among the MAAC leaders in scoring (13.1 ppg-12th), three pointers/game (2.8-2nd) (35th NCAA), three-point field goal percentage (.379-8th) and free throw percentage (.800-8th) while notching six 20-point performances.
* For his career, Richards has converted on at least three triples in 42 of his 87 games, and at least four in 21 games. When the New York City native hits at least four, the Jaspers are 16-5, including 12-2 over the last two seasons.
* Also having a huge game in the win over Canisius was junior Ashton Pankey, who scored 18 points with nine rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Over his last nine games, he is averaging 16.1 ppg, on 55.7 percent shooting, while hitting for at least 18 points on six occasions.
* The Maryland transfer ranks among the MAAC leaders in scoring (12.5 ppg-16th), rebounding (6.4 rpg-8th), field goal percentage (.523-3rd), blocks (1.4 bpg-3rd), offensive rebounds (2.4 orpg-11th) and defensive rebounds (4.0 drpg-12th) while hitting for at least 20 points on two occasions.
* Andujar (9), Richards (6) and Pankey (2) have also combined for the 17 Manhattan 20-point outings and 43 of the Jaspers' 55 double-figure scoring performances while leading the squad in scoring in all but one game this season. The trio has scored a season-high 60 points against Rider and in the win at Monmouth.
* In the current four-game winning streak, the bench is averaging 25.8 ppg while shooting 47.7 percent (31-of-65) from the floor, including 42.9 percent (15-of-35) from deep.
* During that time, sophomore Rich Williams is leading the way in averaging 10.0 ppg while shooting 57.7 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from deep. This season, Williams is averaging 7.1 ppg as a reserve, compared to just 4.8 ppg as a starter.
* Manhattan averaged 79.0 ppg while shooting 51.0 percent (50-of-98) from the floor and 45.5 percent (20-of-44) from deep in its season sweep of Monmouth.
* Leading the charge against Monmouth was senior RaShawn Stores, who narrowly missed his first career double-double, finishing with nine points and a career-high nine assists.
* Stores leads all MAAC players in three point percentage (.414) and while ranking ninth with 2.9 apg.
* During league play, Stores paces the MAAC in three-point percentage (.531) and assist/turnover ratio (2.8). In the second half of league games, Stores is shooting a blistering 62.9 percent (12-of-19), including 71.4 percent (5-of-7) in the final five minutes.
* Sophomore Tyler Wilson had a big game in the first win over Monmouth finishing with six assists and has now handed out at least four on nine occasions. Wilson continues to rank among the MAAC leaders in assists (3.0 apg-8th), steals (1.2 spg-11th) and assist/turnover ratio (1.3-7th).
* Since returning to Riverdale, Masiello has led the Manhattan to the program's fourth MAAC Championship as well as a pair of 20-plus win campaigns. In his first tenure, he was a part of two MAAC Championships and three 20-plus win seasons. All told, Masiello has been a member of three of the Jaspers' four MAAC Championship teams and five of their 12 20-win seasons while accruing a 155-85 record.
* In his 19th season as either a player or a coach, Masiello has a career collegiate record of 433-195, including 312-174 on the sidelines, with one National Title, two National Championship appearances, two Final Four appearances, six Elite Eight berths, seven conference championships, 12 NCAA Tournament appearances and 15 20-win seasons.
* With the win over Siena, Masiello became the seventh head coach in school history to notch 70 career victories and is 32-12 when coaching at Draddy.
