Providence, R.I. (September 24, 2005)--Senior outside hitter
Megan O'Dorisio put up her second consecutive double-double, but Manhattan Volleyball dropped their final match of the 2005 Brown Invitational on Saturday afternoon to host Brown University in Providence, R.I. by scores of 9-30, 30-25, 26-30, and 28-30.
O'Dorisio, who posted 14 kills and 12 digs in Friday's sweep of Stony Brook University, pounded out a season-high 23 kills to go along with 13 digs in the matinee. O'Dorisio became only the second Lady Jasper this season to eclipse the 20-kill mark in a match. The other Lady J to do so is Pre-Season First Team All-MAAC selection senior
Maggie Pfeifer, who contributed a 21-kill performance in Manhattan's victory over Wagner College earlier in the week. In the Brown match, Pfeifer notched 14 kills for the second straight match.
Manhattan started the match off slowly, as Brown's attack controlled game one. The Lady Jaspers rebounded to even up the contest with a five-point win of game two, but they would drop the final two ensuing games by a combined six points. Brown setter senior Leigh Martin dished out a season-high 61 assists for the Bears, and senior Lauren Gibbs hit a match-best .474 with 22 kills.
Manhattan's setter senior
Lori Bambauer passed the 40-assist mark for the second time this week with 44. She also added 11 digs. Senior libero
Ashley Davis led the Lady Jasper defense with 18 digs.
The Lady J's continue their 2005 out-of-conference schedule on Tuesday, September 27, when they travel north to West Point, N.Y. to face Army at 7:00 p.m.
