RIVERDALE, N.Y. — Manhattan dropped the penultimate game of the regular season to Merrimack, losing 3-2 in the five-set match. Manhattan took sets one and three by 27-25 and 25-19 margins, respectively. In set five, Merrimack rattled off seven straight before eventually clinching the 15-11 set win.
Manhattan came just short of taking a 2-0 lead as the Warriors scored two points in a row to win a nail biting second set, 26-24. The Jaspers' game was elevated by the play of Laila Glover, who recorded eight kills across the first two sets and finished with a career-high 18 kills.
Sarah Emmons set a program-record 56 assists, surpassing Jade Gray's 54 assists vs. Rider in 2015. Maike Bertens posted a team-high 19 kills and a career-high 23 kills.
Next Time Out
Manhattan will conclude their season at home tomorrow vs. Quinnipiac (17-12, 14-3). The program will celebrate senior day with the action set to start at 12 PM.
