Lori Bambauer dished out a season-high 42 assists to go with seven digs as Manhattan Volleyball overpowered Brown University in four games (27-30, 30-24, 30-21, 30-17) on day two of the UConn Toyota Classic in Storrs, Conn.
After a slow start which saw the team hit at a .036 rate in game one, the Lady Jaspers kicked their offensive game into high gear as they reached the .300 hitting percentage plateau for games two and three. Manhattan (2-3, 0-0 MAAC) finished off Brown (0-3, 0-0 Ivy League) in the fourth game by hitting a match-high .423.
Converting Bambauer's passes into kills were seniors
Maggie Pfeifer and
Megan O'Dorisio. Pfeifer, who is the reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, recorded 13 kills, while O'Dorisio continued her offensive hot streak of late with a14-kill effort. Pfeifer also added seven service aces in the victory.
Joining the senior duo with an impressive day offensively is junior hitter
Whitney Judkins. The 6' Iowa native pounded out 14 kills to go with a .360 hitting percentage.
The victory put Manhattan back on the winning track, as the Lady Jaspers were losers of three-straight coming into the match. The Lady J's will attempt to make it two wins in a row as they take on host school UConn today at 3 p.m. in their final match of the UConn Toyota Classic.
