Fort Worth, TX (March 5, 2005)- Texas Christian scored five runs over the first four innings on the way to a 10-4 win this afternoon. Manhattan scored three in the ninth, but could not manufacture another comeback to send the game into extra frames.
The Horned Frogs scored two in the second and three more in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead before the Jaspers cracked the scoreboard in the top of the fifth when
Nunzio Franzese doubled home
Eric Nieto, who drew a one out walk.
TCU scored single runs in the fifth and seventh, and added three more in the eight before Manhattan attempted to stage a comeback.
In the top of the ninth,
Nunzio Franzese started the rally by doubling home
Shane Bolin, who reached when he was hit by a pitch.
Joe Franzese followed with a pinch hit single up the middle, scoring Nieto and
Nunzio Franzese, but the Jaspers could not push any more runner across the plate, falling 10-4.
Jesse Darcy went the first seven innings, striking out three, and
Matt Nevins went one inning, allowing one earned run.
Nunzio Franzese went 2-5 with two RBI, while
Matt Rizzotti went 2-3.
