Riverdale, N.Y. (October 5, 2005)--Manhattan Volleyball extended its season-best match winning streak to four on Wednesday evening, as they swept past St. Francis College (30-12, 30-15, 30-16) in the Lady Jaspers' first home match at Draddy Gym in over a month.
Manhattan was in control of the match on both sides of the ball from the start. The Lady Jaspers hit .320 as a team, while St. Francis finished with a negative attack percentage for the match. Leading the Lady Jaspers in kills were seniors
Megan O'Dorisio (San Diego, Calif./Univ. of San Diego HS) and
Maggie Pfeifer (Liberty, Mo./St. Pius X) with 10 apiece.
Pfeifer, who is the reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week, finished with a flawless 1.000 hitting percentage, and senior setter
Lori Bambauer (New Knoxville, Ohio/New Knoxville) dished out 25 assists in the two frames she played.
Several of the Lady Jaspers' regular starters, including Pfeifer, Bambauer, and O'Dorisio, did not see action in the match's third game, as head coach Ray Green gave some of the younger Lady Jaspers an opportunity to shine.
On the defensive side, senior libero
Ashley Davis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) totaled 12 digs on the night, before freshman
Sarah Raser (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) stepped into the libero role for the final frame, tallying four digs.
Manhattan freshman
Olga Petrenko (Bronx, N.Y./HS for Environmental Studies) notched the first kill of her collegiate career, while her classmate
Danielle Lebedevitch (Bethany, Conn./Amity) hit .400 with five kills. Junior
Meghan Plunkett also pounded out four kills in the third frame.
Jadelyn Castillo led the Terrier attack with eight kills, while setter Megan Lundquist recorded a team-high 11 digs.
The Lady Jaspers try to make it five in a row when they travel to Teaneck, N.J. to participate in the FDU Invitational during the upcoming weekend. Manhattan opens play at the tournament on Friday at 6:00 p.m., as they face host Fairleigh Dickinson.
