Storrs, CT (September 13, 2003) - The Lady Jaspers lost in 5 games to the University of Akron today at the Connecticut Invitational, by scores of 30-19, 28-30, 30-26, 28-30 and 15-6. Manhattan falls to 2-7 on the season.

Luka Van Cauteren led the way for Manhattan with an outstanding 25 kills, 26 assists and 27 digs. Senior tri-captain
Krista Thorsen contributed with 9 kills and 22 digs. Sophomore
Lauren Bambauer continued with her successful day by compiling 26 assists and 13 digs with a .667 hitting percentage. In addition to Van Cauteren's successful match and weekend, she was named to the Connecticut Inviational All-Tournament team.
For the Akron Zips Lyndsay Schmiedel set the tone with 28 assists and 12 digs. Sandy Lewis notched 21 digs and 12 kills.
The Lady Jaspers will be back in action next weekend when they will head to Philadelphia for the Villanova Tournament. There they will face University of Pennsylvania, University of Maryland-Baltimore County and host Villanova University.
