Riverdale, NY (October 12, 2003)- Manhattan captured its eighth win of the season by dropping MAAC foe Canisius in three straight sets. The Lady Jaspers swept the weekend series with the MAAC's Buffalo schools.
In the first game the score seesawed in the beginning with three ties and two lead changes, but Manhattan went on a 13-4 run to pull away for the win in the first game. The Griffs began the second game on a tear leading by as many as five and did not trail until the Lady Jaspers made it 19-18. After the Griffs tied the game at 20-20, the Lady Jaspers took the lead and won 30-25. The third game had 5 lead changes, but Manhattan took the lead for good at 21-19, eventually winning the game 30-24.

Luka Van Cauteren led the way for Manhattan with a triple-double, notching 17 kills, 22 assists, and 10 digs, with an outstanding .630 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Maggie Pfeifer added 9 kills with a .286 hitting percentage, and sophomore Lori Bambauer recorded 25 assists in the win.
For the Griffs, Nicole Lucie tallied 8 kills, 4 digs with a .267 hitting percentage, and Mary Boller recorded 8 kills with a .333 hitting percentage in the loss.
The Lady Jaspers improve their conference record to 3-0. They will look to add another conference win when they head to Poughkeepsie, NY to face MAAC rival Marist on Wednesday.
