RIVERDALE, NY– The Manhattan Jaspers Women's Lacrosse team (1-5, 0-0 MAAC) fell to the Bearcats of Binghamton University (3-5, 0-0 America East) by a score of 19-4 inside Gaelic Park on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Coming off a narrow loss to LIU nearly two weeks ago, the Jaspers were poised to get back home to Gaelic Park in style.
- Binghamton started with four consecutive goals before Manhattan picked up a ground ball and found its rhythm. In transition, Olivia Cruthers attempted a shot that went just wide before Moira Marcozzi found Emily Derrico for the Jaspers' first tally of the game.
- Midway through the second quarter, it was Derrico again from Catie Edson, who buried one through the back of the net for the second goal of the game.
- Towards the waning minutes of the third quarter, Derrico tallied her third goal on the man-advantage, with Cruthers finding the Harrington Park, NJ produce.
- After Ava Drangula caused a Binghamton turnover, the Jaspers gained some traction on the sequence, with Marcozzi finding Ella Hirsch for her first goal of the season.
STATS AND NOTES
- Senior Emily Derrico buried three goals through the back of the net on five shots, with four on target. She caused one turnover and logged one draw control.
- Moira Marcozzi assisted with one Derrico goal and the lone Hirsch goal.
- Catie Edson logged an assist on the second Derrico goal. Edson grabbed two ground-balls and caused two turnovers.
- Emily Fiola picked up three ground balls, caused a pair of turnovers, and logged two draw controls.
- Senior Olivia Cruthers added one assist and six shots, with two on target, which caused one turnover.
