Dupree Scores Three; Engel with Two as Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Stony Brook

RIVERDALE, NY – The Manhattan Jaspers Men's Lacrosse team (2-3, 0-0 MAAC) fell to the Seawolves of Stony Brook University (4-2, 0-0 CAA) by a score of 12-7 inside Gaelic Park on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After trailing by three to open the game against the Seawolves, the Jaspers showed resiliency roughly 26 seconds later with a Drew Hiner shot on goal, followed by Sean Shelko burying Manhattan's first of the day.
  • Off a Connor Hapward save on the ensuing sequence, Dylan Knapp caused a turnover, which led to the Jaspers netting its second of the day, courtesy of Kelly DuPree, to narrow Manhattan's deficit to just one tally.
  • Following a pair of Stony Brook goals to re-extend its lead back to three, Matthew Pantorno caused a Seawolves turnover to eventually put pressure on the opposition before DuPree found the back of the net for the second time in the game.
  • Throughout the second and third quarters, Manhattan scored three unanswered goals to tie the game at six, from Hiner and twice from Connor Engel, respectively.
  • In the final 12 minutes of the second quarter, goalkeeper Connor Hapward logged four crucial saves against the Seawolves.
  • In the fourth quarter, DuPree scored his third goal of the game to cut the Jaspers deficit to four.
