LOUDONVILLE, NY - Manhattan baseball played game one of their three game series at Siena today, taking a 6-5 victory to keep their MAAC tournament hopes alive.

The first two innings of the game were scoreless, before the Jaspers got the bats going in the third. Manhattan loaded the bases, before a fielder's choice scored the first run of the ballgame, sending Chase Swain to the plate with two on and a 1-0 lead. Swain saw a pitch he liked and connected, launching a three-run home run to left field to make the score 4-0 Manhattan after three. The game would remain at this score, until the sixth inning when Tyler Figueroa hit a solo home run for the Saints, narrowing the deficit to 4-1. In the eighth inning, Siena would load the bases, walking in a run, before adding another on a wild pitch to make the score 4-3.

In the top of the ninth, Swain got the inning started with a single, before stealing second base. Drew Wyers would then drive him in with a double, before advancing to third and eventually scoring on a wild pitch to make the score 6-3 Manhattan. Siena would respond in the bottom half of the inning by loading the bases once again with one out. The Saints would score one a walk and another on a fielder's choice, trimming the deficit to 6-5 with two on and two outs. Jack Mahoney was able to get the last batter to strike out ending the ball game with a Manhattan victory.

Justin Solimine started the game for the Jaspers, tossing four shutout innings. Greg Shaw came in to throw four in relief and earned the victory, while Mahoney earned the save finishing the contest. Swain ended the game with three hits, three RBI, and two runs for Manhattan.

The two teams will finish the series tomorrow with a doubleheader. Game one will be played at noon, before game two will begin at approximately 3 pm.
