POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Jaspers secure a three-game win streak, defeating Marist this afternoon, the final score was 11-10.

With a 2-0 shutout in the third quarter, the Jaspers used the offensive boost to defeat the Red Foxes by one goal.

"Our team showed great perseverance in the second half to earn a hard fought win over Marist. The defense made key stops at crucial moments of the game helping the offense get into a flow. The game winner from Gucwa to Dupree and the last defensive stand earned us a big MAAC win," said head coach Doug Sage

The Jaspers started off the match down, being outscored by two goals in the first quarter of play. Only after letting up three unanswered goals would the Jaspers score two goals in quick succession to stop the bleeding in the first quarter. Both goals were scored within a minute of each other, the first coming from Kelly DuPree at 5:18 and the second by Kyle Gucwa at 4:15.

After matching the Red Foxes' offense in the second quarter, 2-2, the Jaspers shut out the Red Foxes in the third quarter. This gave the Jaspers the opportunity to score the two goals they needed so desperately to tie the game by the end of the third. The game-tying goal in the third came from Scott O'Connor with 8:20 remaining.
After an early back and forth in the final quarter, the game looked like it might head into overtime with no team scoring since the seven-minute mark. However, with 1:28 left in regular time, DuPree, assisted by Gucwa, scored the game-winning goal.
While the Jaspers saw no hat tricks this afternoon, there were three scorers with over one goal: Sean Shelko, Gucwa, and DuPree all had two goals apiece. Standing out was Gucwa with five assists.

The Jaspers play again next Saturday, April 6, at 11:00 AM against the Virginia Military Institute in Riverdale, N.Y.
