RIVERDALE, NY– The Manhattan Men's Track and Field program launched its 2024-25 campaign with standout performances on Saturday late afternoon at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island and the Crowell Open, hosted by Army West Point.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Manhattan's two best placements came in separate locations, with junior Ivan Lytovchenko placing first in the Men's High Jump with a personal best 2.06m mark on Staten Island. By surpassing the 2.0m mark, Lytovchenko punched his ticket to the ECAC/IC4A Championships on March 8 and 9.
- Junior Travis Delaney placed atop the Men's 800m by recording a time of 2:01.79 in West Point. Delaney logged a third-place finish in the Men's 400m with a 51.56 result.
- Junior Alberic Gbaguidi collected a time of 7.14 and placed eighth in the Men 60-meter dash on Staten Island.
- Freshman Thomas Bonsignore placed seventh in the Men 400-meter dash with a time of 51.93 in the second heat. Bonsignore placed second in the second section. Junior Shane McCorry finished two spots behind with a time of 53.55 in the same event.
- Sophomore Jaiden Bradshaw placed sixth overall in the Men 200-meter dash with a time of 22.90 and sat atop the fifth heat table.
- Junior Jaden Walker placed atop the eighth heat in the Men 200-meter dash with a time of 25.48.
- Sophomore Adrian Alonso recorded an eighth-place finish in the Men's Mile with a mark of 4:48.81.
- Freshman Nate Alvarez placed fourth in the Men High Jump, tied with Fordham's George Pomer with a 1.88m mark.
- Senior Paul Brennan placed third in the Men's Weight Throw with a mark of 18.76.
- Junior Jaxon Newton registered a time of 8:47.89 in the Men's 3000m and placed fourth.
- Sophomore Thomas Dubnov Raz secured a second-place finish in the Men Long Jump with a mark of 6.85. Junior Alex Bilello finished behind Dubnov Raz with a 6.78m mark. Freshman Sammy Somwaru finished fourth with a mark of 6.62m. Freshman Thomas Lodge recorded a 6.43m finish tied with Molloy's David Crews.
- Senior Peter Athanailos placed sixth in the Men's Shot Put with a mark of 14.84. His teammate, Senior Paul Brennan, placed two spots behind Athanailos with a mark of 14.47.

"I am really happy with how both programs opened up. We split the squad and tackled two meets this weekend. We saw a couple of personal bests and many of our athletes who had their best season openers. There will be a lot to look forward to this season!" said head coach Kerri Inman.
