NEW YORK, NY– The Manhattan Jaspers men's and women's swimming and diving teams continued their 2024-25 season against the Fordham Rams but fell by a score of 156.5 to 83.5 and 186-62, respectively on Friday inside the Col. Francis Messmore Aquatic Center.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Pacing the women's field was Sophia Leber, who recorded a time of 29.12 to capture the Women 50 Yard Fly. Behind Leber were three of her teammates: junior Eva Canning, senior Kate Maio, and senior Natalia Velez Serrano.
- Senior Joe Brennan and Fordham's Kevin Zahariev finished in a dead heat with a final time of 26.76 in the Men 50 Yard Breast.
- Additionally, Brennan captured the Men 100 Yard Breast with a final time of 58.94.
- Junior Jaila Williamson registered a second-place finish in the Women 50 Yard Breast with a time of 32.38.
- Junior Jonathan Carsen paced the men's side, who finished the Men 50 Yard Fly at 24.31. Behind Carsen were his three teammates, sophomore Mark Haynes, senior Islam Yousri, and brother, freshman Ryan Carsen.
- As a team in the Women 200 Yard Free Relay, Manhattan recorded the top two times with 1:46.44 and 1:55.81, respectively.
- On the men's side in the Men 200 Yard Free Relay, the Jaspers swept the event with all 12 pacing the charge, with times of 1:31.02, 1:37.19, and 1:45.99, respectively.
NEXT UP:
The Jaspers swimming and diving programs return to the pool in two weeks when Manhattan visits Jersey City on Saturday, October 26. There, the Jaspers will face the Saint Peter's Peacocks to start conference play inside the Eugene and Teresa Imperatore Swimming and Diving Center.
