Jaspers Split Monday Doubleheader at Marist

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Manhattan splits its doubleheader at Marist on Monday afternoon. The Jaspers took game one before falling in game two against the Red Foxes.

Game 1: Manhattan 2, Marist 1
Sophia Kiseloski tossed her second straight complete game and recorded her second win in as many starts in game one.

The two runs for the Jaspers came in the fifth and sixth innings. Megan Hedlund broke a 0-0 tie with a solo home run to right-center. It was the catcher's first homer of the season. Gabi Mills scored the second run of the game on an error by Marist.

Maddie Pleasants got the Red Foxes on the board in the sixth with a double down the left-field line. Haley Ahr scored on the hit after doubling to lead off the inning. Kiseloski then worked around two other base runners to preserve the one-run lead.

Lauren Rende was the lone player in the game with multiple hits, finishing 2-4 for the Jaspers.

Game 2: Marist 9, Manhattan 0 (5 Innings)
Marist's offense came alive in the second game, using a seven-run second inning to secure the run-rule win.

In the second, the first five Red Foxes reached base. Marist led 3-0 before the first out was recorded, with two coming off a hit from Isabella Manory. Three batters later, the Red Foxes extended the lead to 5-0 after a two-run double. Haley Ahr finished the scoring with a two-run single to center field.

Hannah Brock homered in the third to make it 9-0.

Marika Deemer had the lone hit for the Jaspers.

Manhattan returns to action on Wednesday for a MAAC doubleheader at Saint Peter's. The first pitch between the Jaspers and Peacocks is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Jersey City, N.J.
