LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - The Manhattan golf team will participate in the MAAC Championships at Disney's Palm Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The MAAC Championships is a three-round, 54-hole tournament.
The competition will begin Friday at 7:30 a.m., with the last golfers teeing off at 9:36 a.m. Saturday and Sunday will follow the same format. Sunday's final round will be broadcasted on ESPN+, starting at 9:30 a.m.
Manhattan's lineup will consist of David Mlynek, Jimmy Escoto, Lincoln Haymaker, Colby Norton, and Max Levine.
Teams competing along with Manhattan will be Canisius, Fairfield, Iona, Mount St. Mary's, Niagara, Rider, Saint Peter's, and Siena.Â
"We are looking forward to the MAAC Championship this year. Everything we have done, the practices, the selection of tournaments, have all been to get ready for this moment." said head coach Keith Prokop. "We aren't adding any extra pressure to the event. We have just prepared to go out there and use what we have learned to play our best golf."
The Jaspers go into the tournament ready to put all the work they have put in all fall and spring to the test. Manhattan will play in 80-degree weather and excellent conditions after seemingly battling rough conditions at almost every tournament this spring.
Prokop added, "Disney is a magical place for me as a coach. I grew up playing here. I made my home here at this course as a mini-tour player and spent much of my life here at Disney. Overall, I'm looking forward to seeing what this preparation will entail. If the team plays to their potential, we can shock some teams in the MAAC."
Mlynek leads the team in scoring average at 72.0 over 14 rounds this season. Norton, Haymaker, and Escoto all averaged sub-80 too. Mlynek has the best finish on the team, a T4 at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate. Haymaker's best was a T12 at the Roar-EEE Invitational.Â
