KINGSTON, N.Y. - Manhattan golf participated in the Roar-EE Invitational on Saturday at Wiltwyck Golf Club. The Jaspers finished 11th, shooting 296 (+8) in what turned out to be a single-round tournament.
Initially scheduled for two rounds, the tournament was shortened by thunderstorms and lightning near the golf course. With several golfers well into the second round, the horn sounded for lightning at 4:42 p.m. ET. After waiting nearly two hours for conditions to improve, tournament officials were forced to call off the second round after another lightning strike at approximately 6:25 p.m.
Lincoln Haymaker led the way for the Jaspers, who posted a 70 (-2) for the round, his lowest score of the season. This performance was enough for him to finish T12Â individually, three strokes behind the individual champion. Other contributors included David Mlynek and Jimmy Escoto, who scored 75 (+3), and Colby Norton, who finished with a 76 (+4).
The 18-hole tournament was won by Holy Cross, shooting -7 as a team. Holy Cross's Christian Emmerich and Hofstra's Dino Capazario shared the individual title, finishing five strokes under par.Â
The Jaspers quickly turn ahead as they look forward to competing in The Shark Invitational on April 17-18 in Brookville, N.Y.Â
