JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Manhattan finished Friday's second day of the River City Spring Break Classic.
"We went into this outdoor season looking for a strong start to the season," said Director of Track and Field
Kerri Gallagher. "I'm very happy with the results from both meets. We saw some event wins, personal bests, and a lot of areas of improvement that we can capitalize on over the next few weeks."
Manhattan won the men's 4x400 relay on Friday.
Noah Jefferson,
Andrew Simard,
Johnelle Joe, and
Harrison Alonzo crossed the line at 3:16.60 to win by three-tenths of a second.
Individually, Jefferson finished seventh in the 100m with a 10.95. Jefferson was one-hundredth of a second off sixth place.
In the 400m, the Jaspers had a pair of competitors. Simard came home in 10
th (49.64), and Alonzo came in 15
th (50.58).
Ivan Lytovchenko finished on the podium in third in the high jump for the Jaspers. The first-year Jasper cleared 2.0m on his first attempt before failing to clear 2.05m. Guy Bond of Bethune Cookman was the only competitor to clear 2.05m and won the event.
On the women's side,
Kristin Stickdorn finished third in the discus. The junior posted a best of 43.80m on her fifth attempt.
The outdoor season continues next week with another trip down south, this time to the Raleigh Relays.
