RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan women's lacrosse attempted a comeback in the fourth but ultimately fell to Columbia, 10-8.

Manhattan (3-2) turned the tide of the game and rallied in the fourth against Columbia (2-2), scoring four goals and shutting out the Lions' offense. Olivia Cruthers and Jillian Reiner scored twice in the fourth, but it proved too late to catch Columbia on Wednesday afternoon.

The game opened up with the Lions slipping three goals past the Jaspers' defense. The Jaspers broke this run with 32 seconds left in the first, with a shot by Reiner finding the back of the Lions' net. In the second quarter, the Jaspers outscored the Lions 2-1, cutting the deficit to one at the half.

In the third quarter, Andrea Liotta showed why she is one of the top players in the MAAC, securing the draw control, fighting through a stick check, making her way to the net, and burying a shot for her first goal of the season.

Leading the offense for the Jaspers was Reiner with a hat-trick and a pair of ground balls for the second game in a row. Cruthers picked up two goals of her own. Liotta had the most ground balls for the Jaspers today, scooping up five.

The Jaspers play one more game to close the week on Sunday, Mar. 5, at 12 p.m. against Lindenwood at Gaelic Park.
