RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan men's swimming and diving team concluded their regular season Saturday against Sarah Lawrence, coming out on top, 73-2.
In individual races this morning, Jonathan Carsen, Louis Quinn, and Jorge Flechas finished one-two-three in the 50-yard freestyle for the Jaspers. Carsen touched the wall in 25.08, which was 1.7 seconds clear of second and 2.7 seconds clear of third.
Abelardo Cartagena and Jack Martin finished first and second in the 50-yard backstroke, with times of 28.86 and 30.76. For the 50-yard breaststroke, Christian Skaff (30.21), Joe Brennan (30.50), and Vinny Tramontana (35.22) all placed in the top three.
In the final individual event, the 50-yard burtterfly, Carsen, Yousri Islam, and Tramontana all finished in the top three. Carsen's winning time was 27.24. Islam was three-tenths back in second.
The Jaspers won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:52.01. The team consisted of Martin, Branden Deiss, Quinn, and Brennan.
This marks the end of the regular season for the Jaspers swim and dive team. They now set their sights on the MAAC Championships, starting on Feb. 8 in Buffalo, N.Y.
