RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan College men's and women's cross country teams are ready for the Metropolitan Championships being held at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J. The meet has previously been consistently held Van Cortlandt Park.

The women's 5k race will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the men's 8k to follow.

A very popular and historic meet, the Metropolitan Cross Country Championship has been around since 1972 when the first men's championship was held. The first women's championship occurred in 1985. Manhattan College has won the most team championships with 26, in addition to 21 individual men's champions.

Women's Leaders
Andria Scaglione holds the top time for Manhattan so far this season in the 5k with a time of 18:39.2. Two other Jaspers have recorded sub-19 times including junior
Kylie Conroy (19:03.0) and graduate student
Nicola Scaglione (19:51.3).

Men's Leaders
Jared Lautenslager's time of 25:20.4 is the top time for an 8K race by a Jasper this season.Â

Last Time Out
Manhattan last raced at the Jaspers Fall Classic on Nov. 16. A. Scaglione raced to a time of 21:40.8 in the 6k to finish first for Manhattan in 11th place, while
Kylie Conroy was 11th with 22:28.4.

Lautenslager used a time of 25:20.4 to become the first Jasper to finish the 8k race.
Jaxon Newton finished a few paces behind him with a time of 26:54.5.Â

MAAC Championships
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) selected Manhattan College as the host institution for the 2023 MAAC Men's & Women's Cross Country Championships. Manhattan will host the championships at Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, New York on Saturday, October 28, 2023. The 2023 championships will be the first time the races will be held at Twin Ponds on the Farm in the 43-year history of the MAAC.
