MONTGOMERY, N.Y. – Winning your own meet has its own unique feeling, something
Andria Scaglione knows all too well. Scaglione took home first place in commanding fashion at this morning's Jasper XC Fall Invite at the Twin Ponds at the Farm.
The team finished fourth out of the eight teams eligible for scoring.
From the moment the race began, the senior runner took the lead and only grew it as time passed. When Scaglione came around the last turn into the final straightway, there was no other runner in sight.
She finished the 6k with a final time of 21:46.1, which beat the second-place place finisher by just over 20 seconds.
Nicola Scaglione was the next to cross the finish line, recording a time of 23:42.7 which slots her in 21st. Teammate
Rory Graham finished just behind her, coming in 22ed with a final mark of 23:45.8.
Bella Cannizzo competed in her first collegiate 6k this morning, clocking in a time of 24:08.6, which placed her in 28th.
Fiona Mohl and
Evelyn Gonzalez Valle finished in 31st and 32 with final marks of 24:40.2 and 24:44.2 respectively, with those times being new PRs for the Jasper runners.
Margaret Pappas also etched in a new PR this morning, finishing her race with a final time of 25:52.5.
The Jaspers return to the course in a couple of weeks, competing in the Metropolitan Championships just down the hill from campus at Van Cortlandt Park on Oct. 7.
