RIVERDALE, N.Y. – We are now less than 24 hours away from the beginning of the 2022-2023 women's indoor track season, with the Jaspers' season set to get underway at the Crowell Open this Saturday, hosted by Army West Point.
Kerri Gallagher will once again be at the helm of the staff and will be joined by assistant coaches
Patrick McGrath,
Kathryn Schumann, Ena Leufroy,
Margaret Hayden, and
John Lovett.
Live results for this weekend's meet can be found
HERE.
The Jaspers find themselves selected tied for fourth with the newest member of the MAAC, Mount St. Mary's, in this season's preseason poll. Last season, the team finished in fifth at the MAAC Championship.
"The team is really excited to get the indoor season started. While our cross country team has been competing since September, our track and field student-athletes have been patiently waiting for this opportunity and training hard in preparation," said Director of Track and Field
Kerri Gallagher. "We have some good talent across the board and we are looking forward to showcasing our hard work throughout the season in preparation for the MAAC."
Andria Scaglione, who is coming into the indoor season following a brilliant showing in this year's cross country season, will look to use that momentum to turn in similar results in the indoor season. She will be running in the mile in this weekend's opening meet.
Nicola Scaglione will return to run in distance events. Last year, she earned a ninth-place finish in the mile at the Metropolitan last year while also being on the 4x800 team that took second at the event.
Ava Kowal will be making her indoor track debut for the Jaspers. A member of the women's soccer team as well, Kowal will be running in the 800m run.
In the field,
Alexandra Caraher returns for the Jaspers after a promising freshman campaign which saw her record multiple top-10 placements in the shotput and weight throw. Her PRs are 11.79m in the shotput and 17.15 in the weight throw. The PR in the weight throw came at the MAAC Championships, which she came in fourth. Caraher will be joined those events by freshman thrower
Kristin Stickdorn.
