Annang Leads Manhattan To 1-0 Win Over Fordham

Riverdale, NY –
Fifth-year senior Oswald Annang's scored the lone goal to lead Manhattan to a 1-0 win over Fordham in the annual "Battle of the Bronx" at Gaelic Park.

* Annang found the back of the net in the 59th minute, when he slid the ball under the crossbar off a feed from graduate student Brandon Joseph-Buadi.

* After Manhattan took its lead, Fordham would continue to battle and registered nine more shots over the final 30-plus minutes of action, but wasunable to convert against a stout Jasper team.

* Annang now has a team-best three goals on the year and five for his career.

* The score is also his second career game-winner.

* Joseph-Buadi registered his first assist of the year, and the seventh of his career.

* The Rams posted advantages in shots (17-6), shots on goal (4-1) and corner kicks (7-2).

* Manhattan generated the first two scoring threats of the match, but senior Simon Busch saw a pair of shots go wide of the goal.
 
* In the 20th minute, Fordham drew a foul in the box, but Matt Sloan's penalty kick was blocked by sophomore Danny DiMarco.

* The sophomore netminder turned away Sloan's shot thanks to a sprawling diving save to the lower left part of the goal.

* DiMarco was again at the center of the action in the 34th minute as he was able to turn away the Rams' point-blank shot off a corner kick.

* DiMarco made four saves in moving to 2-1-1 on the year.

* He also notched his second clean sheet of the year, and the third of his career.

* The Jaspers have now won three-straight matches agaisnt the Rams, with all three victories coming by one goal.

* Manhattan will next host LIU on Tuesday, September 21 at 3:00 pm.
