Loudonville, NY - Junior Ant Nelson (New York, NY / Seton Hall) scored 22 of his career-high matching 27 points after halftime, but it wasn't enough as Manhattan dropped a hard-fought 74-69 decision to MAAC preseason favorite Siena at the UHY Center.
Nelson combined with juniors Samba Diallo (Rufisque, Senegal / UMass) and Warren Williams (Kingston, Jamaica / St. Benedict's Prep) to combine for 38 of the Jaspers' 40 second-half points, while shooting a blistering 57.7 percent (15-of-26) from the field.
The trio kept the Green & White close, in spite of the fact that the Saints shot a blistering 63.2 percent (12-of-19) after halftime.
Despite falling behind by 12 on two occasions, Manhattan continued to fight and cut the deficit to four late in the game, but was unable to get any closer.
