Riverdale, NY - The Manhattan College men's cross country program captured first place at the Metropolitan Championship in Van Cortlandt Park. On the women's side, the Jaspers claimed fifth. In the men's 8K, the Jaspers had four runners finish in the top 10, including three in the top five. Top male performer for Manhattan College was Michael Hennelly, taking third overall. For the women, Andria Scaglione was the lead Jasper taking fourth place in the women's 5K race.
*The men's program finished with a final tally of 33 points, meanwhile the women's fifth place position was earned with a score of 113
*Scaglione finished with a time of 19:44.3 and is now 11 for 11 in her career as the top runner for the women's team.
*Nicola Scaglione clocked in at 20:30.6 for 18th place in the women's field while Rory Graham (25th) , Shayna Arrigo (30th) and Grace Campbell (36th) rounded out the top 40 finishers for the Jaspers.
*On the men's side, senior Michael Hennelly continued his successful season earning third place with a time of 26:51, giving him two top five finishes at VCP in the last two meets there.
*Ryan Tierney registered a time of 27:01.7 and Pelle Nogueira finished right behind at 27:04.6 to garner fourth and fifth place finishes for Manhattan. Nogueria now has two top five placements at VCP this season after taking home first place at the Fordham Fiasco.
*Marc Carrera (27:31.3) secured 10th place while classmates Liam Farrell (27:40.3) and David Lozipone (28:20.7) claimed 11th and 18th place respectively.
*The Jaspers now have their eyes set on the MAAC Championships which are set to take place on Sat., Oct. 30 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida.
