Buffalo, NY – The Manhattan Women's Swimming and Diving team continued to break records on day two of the MAAC Championship.
Freshman
Mackenzie Tuttle (Highland Mills, NY / Monroe-Woodbury) finished in the top 20 of the 500 freestyle by setting a school record. Tuttle's time of 5:12.37 in the preliminaries was the fastest in school history, and earned a spot in the "B" final where finished 16th.
Tuttle anchored the 200 freestyle relay team that also included senior captain
Kali Nembach (Lynbrook, NY/ Lynbrook) freshman
Teddy Segmuller (Gainesville, VA / Foxcroft School) and sophomore
Jamie Quinn (Fairfax, VA / WT Woodson) who raced to a time of 1:39.46, setting a school record and earning 18 points for the Jaspers.
Segmuller also smashed a school record, establishing a new mark in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.74 to lead off the 200 freestyle relay team.
In the diving well, freshman
Dillon Kadish (Hollywood, FL / Nova) had a great showing in his first MAAC championship event, securing a spot in the "A" final, finishing sixrh in the 3-meter dive and earning 13 points for the Jaspers.
On the men's side, the day was highlighted by a strong finish for the 200 freestyle relay team of senior
Timothy Valentine (Massapequa, NY/ Chaminade), juniors
Derek Lederer (Blauvelt, NY / Tappan Zee) and
Charles Ledda (New Fairfield, CT / New Fairfield) and sophomore
Kyle Bergin (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook), who touched the wall in 1:26.57 earning 18 points.
The meet continues tomorrow morning at 10 am with preliminaries in 11 events and the finals of 13 events tomorrow evening, including the 100 breaststroke that Valentine is seeded sixth.
