The Jaspers earn their third-straight win and third MAAC win to move to 6-7 on the year and 3-1 in the league. Saint Peter's drops to 4-8 overall and 1-2 in conference.
Highlights:
- Going into Thursday's game, the Peacocks averaged a league-leading 78.4 points per game. The Manhattan defense, ranked second in the MAAC, forced 20 turnovers from Saint Peter's and out-rebounded the Peacocks 39-25, including 31 defensive boards.
- Manhattan shot 55.7 percent for the game, the best scoring performance of the team so far this season, including a 66.7 percent third-quarter where the Jaspers scored 28 points.
- Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) scored a team-high 16 points, just one off her season scoring high. She sparked the Jasper offense from the start of the game, earning eight points in the opening period on 4-4 shooting from the floor. Warley added three steals, two assists and six rebounds to her stat line for the night.
- Another Jasper with a huge first quarter, Lizahya Morgan (East Hartford, CT / Capital Preparatory Magnet) contributed a season-high 14 points for Manhattan, including nine in the first quarter on 3-4 shooting from three. Morgan added a game-high four steals, another season best.
- Julie Høier (Aabyhoej, Denmark / Marselisborg Gymnasium) paced the Jaspers on the glass, pulling down a game-high seven rebounds, including six defensive boards. Her six assists on the day is a career-high for Høier, who added 13 points, a season-high. Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) also passed out six assists, helping the Jaspers to a tie of their season-high of 24 earned against Niagara.
- Manhattan led the game for nearly 35 minutes, trailing by just three halfway through the first quarter. Saint Peter's 52 points is the third-lowest point total of a Manhattan opponent this season, while the Jaspers' 85 points are just one off the team's season scoring high of 86 (against Army).
- The win marks the Jaspers' third-straight, making the team undefeated in the new year. Head Coach Heather Vulin also moves to 7-0 against Saint Peter's.
Manhattan travels to defending MAAC champ Quinnipiac on Saturday, January 11 at 4:00 pm.
