St. John's entered the top 25 this week, after taking down RV North Carolina State 1-0 in double overtime to open the year 2-0-0 for the first time since 2008, when the Red Storm went to the College Cup.
Manhattan earned their first ever win over a ranked opponent one season ago, when the Jaspers knocked off then #25 Fordham at Gaelic Park on a 90th-minute header by Adrien Awana (Bordeaux, France / University of Bordeaux).

- Lehigh scored in the 55th minute as Trevor Koski deflected a Nick Jennings free kick into the back of the net, to give Lehigh the 1-0 win in the season opener for both clubs. Senior Marcellin Gohier (Nantes, Frances / CENS) made seven saves for the Jaspers, who were outshot 20-7.
- Gohier was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week on September 2. He received the honor following his seven-save performance at Lehigh. It was the most saves he had made in a game since November 1, 2017 against Canisus, when he also made seven stops.
- This will be the fourth meeting between the Red Storm and Manhattan, but the first since 1996. St. John's won all three of the previous meetings and both of the matchups in Queens.
- St. John's enters the matchup ranked #22 in the country by Soccer America.
- The Red Storm defeated Appalachian State and NC State to open the year. It was the Johnnies first win over an ACC school since 2010.
- This game will serve as the home opener for St. John's.
- Sophomore defender Luke Hansen was named to the National Team of the Week by College Soccer News and was named Big East Defensive Player of the Week following the win over NC State.
- Sophomore Forward Tani Oluwaseyi leads the Red Storm with one goal and one assist on the season.
