Manhattan Bolsters Medal Count At MAACs

New York, NY - Manhattan freshman Lisa Warfvinge (Varberg, Sweden / Peder Skrivares School) was named Female Field Rookie of the Meet at the 2019 MAAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday, February 17. Warfvinge won silver medals in the women's long jump, 60-meters and 200-meters during the two-day competition. She is the second-straight Jasper to win the conference award. 

Highlights:
  • After winning four medals on the first day of competition, the Jaspers collected 13 more Sunday, helping the Manhattan women to third place overall (117.5 points) and the men to a fourth-place finish (73 points). Monmouth captured both the men's (271.5 points) and women's (187.5 points) team titles. 
  • Junior sprinter Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA / Pennsbury) won the women's 200-meter race with a time of 24.93, a personal best. She was followed by Warfvinge, who finished the race in 25.19.
  • Boone went on to win the women's 4x400 relay with teammates Zarah Harris (Montgomery, NY / Valley Central), Chinelo Nnakwe (Central Islip, NY / Saint Anthony's), and Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY / Hauppauge). The Jaspers hit a time of 3:52.33, defending Manhattan's 2018 gold medal in the event. 
  • Davis and Harris took second and third, respectively, in the women's 400-meter race. Davis recorded a time of 57.15, while Harris came in at 57.28, a personal best.
  • Senior Will Stallings (Sleepy Hollow, NY / Sleepy Hollow) won bronze in the men's 400-meters with a time of 48.60, while he and fellow Jaspers Jordan Greene (Boston, MA / Newton North), Seth Goitia (New Windsor, NY / Cornwall Central) and Larry McCullum (Piscataway, NJ / Piscataway) also took bronze in the 4x400 relay, recording a time of 3:22.30.
  • Cristian Forletta (Ronkonkoma, NY / Connetquot) placed third in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing in 8.36, a collegiate best.
  • In the field events, Dominyka Leskauskaite (Alythus, Lithuania / St. Benedictus Gymnasium) won bronze in the women's triple jump with a distance of 11.49 meters.
  • Lasma Padedze (Ogre, Latvia / Ogre Secondary School No. 1), the 2018 MAAC Female Field Rookie of the Meet, won the women's shot put with a distance of 14.33 meters.
  • Senior Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) placed second in the men's shot, throwing a distance of 17.70 meters, beating is personal best by 0.24 meters. Anu Awonusi (Dublin, Ireland / Kilkenny College) followed in third place with a throw of 17.03 meters. 
  • Chris Woodhouse (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Technical) won bronze in the men's pole vault, jumping a height of 4.35 meters.
  • The 13 medals earned Sunday brings the Jaspers' total to 17 for the weekend.

Qualifying Jaspers will head to the ECAC/IC4A Championships in Boston March 1-3.
