Final Results
East Meadow, NY – The Manhattan men's swimming and diving team earned their seventh top five finish in the past eight seasons at the 2019 ECAC Winter Championships, placing fifth, while the women took eighth.
Senior Timothy Valentine (Massapequa, NY / Chaminade) led the way for the Jaspers in the pool, earning a pair of third-place finishes. Valentine beat his seed time by over one second in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing the event in a blistering 57.13 seconds. Valentine then recorded a career-best in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:06.66, nearly five seconds ahead of his seed time.
Sophomore Branden Deiss (Benoni, South Africa / Crawford College Lonehill) earned two top-10 finishes, taking seventh in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:43.19 and ninth in the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 4:46.35.
On the women's side, two freshmen paced the Jaspers. Freshman Ciara Dalton (Pleasantville, NY / Byram Hills) finished 200-yard IM eighth (2:11.98), while fellow first-year Mackenzie Tuttle (Highland Mills, NY / Monroe-Woodbury) placed eighth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.47), beating her seed time by over three seconds.
On the boards, Manhattan had a strong showing led by sophomore Lexington Passamonte (Rochester, NY / Greece Athena) on the women's side and freshman Dillon Kadish (Hollywood, FL / Nova) on the men's side. Passamonte achieved fourth-place finishes in the 1-meter (198.50) and 3-meter (191.75) dives.
Kadish finished second in the 1-meter dive with a score of 209.60 and third in the 3-meter dive with a score of 208.50. Sophomore Connor Marshall (West Hartford, CT / Avon Old Farm) and senior Matthew Broadmeadow (Seekonk, MA / Seekonk) finished fifth (170.15) and sixth (162.45), respectively in the 3-meter dive. Broadmeadow also recorded a fifth place finish (191.90) in the 1-meter dive.
The Jaspers will return to action in January, when they travel to Brooklyn to take on St. Francis Brooklyn on Monday, January 20.
