Scaglione Earns All-MAAC Honors At XC Championships

Holmdel Park, NJ - Manhattan freshman Andria Scaglione (Oceanside, NY / Oceanside) earned a spot as an All-MAAC honoree at the 2019 MAAC Cross Country Championships Saturday, finishing the women's 6K race in ninth place with a time of 22:22.86. She was the second MAAC freshman to cross the finish line, also earning a place on the conference's All-Rookie Team.

The Manhattan men secured third place as a team Saturday, improving on the program's fifith-place team finish last season.

Meet Highlights:
  • Scaglione wasn't the only Jasper woman (or Scaglione!) to make the All-Rookie squad—she was joined by her sister, Nicola Scaglione (Oceanside, NY / Oceanside), who finished 28th overall with a time of 23:17.09. Nicola was the fourth MAAC freshman to cross the finish on Saturday.
  • Pelle Nogueira (Glen Head, NJ / TCNJ) was the first Jasper to finish in the men's five-miler, earning a time of 26:20.30, good for 17th overall.
  • Noguiera was then joined by a pack of Jaspers, including David Lozipone (Massapequa Park, NY / Kellenberg Memorial), Ryan Tierney (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) and Michael Hennelly (Suffern, NY / Suffern), who finished 24th, 26th and 27th, respectively. Lozipone earned a time of 26:37.82. Tierney came in at 26:40.66, and Hennelly finished in 26:41.37.
  • The fifth scored runner for the Manhattan men was freshman Ryan Lindrud (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge), who finished in 33rd with a time of 26:48.71. Lindrud was the 10th MAAC rookie to cross.
  • The Jasper men tallied 101 points as a team, finishing behind Iona (15) and Siena (80).
  • Rory Graham (Burnt Hills, NY / Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) was the third finisher for the Manhattan women, earning 38th overall with a time of 23:36.29. She was the seventh female rookie finisher on Saturday.
  • The Manhattan women earned a seventh-place finish in the meet, the same spot the team took home last season. The Jaspers' top five runners combined for 189 points.
  • Iona earned its fourth-straight MAAC Women's Cross Country Championship title, paced by Egle Morenaite, the 2019 Women's Most Outstanding Runner, who ran a 21:18.13 over the 6K course.
