Sam Taraian (Rehobeth, MA / Dighton-Rehobeth Regional) recorded a season low round of 70 (-2) to finish in a tie for fourth place at the Towson Fall Invitational held at Prospect Bay Country Club.
The fourth-place finish is the highest for a Manhattan golfer since
Connor O'Rourke finished in a tie for fourth at the 2018 MAAC Championship.
Taraian recorded four birdies on the day, and opened his day with a 34 on front nine.
Manhattan as a team finished seventh with a score of 301 (+13), and were second in the field with 58 pars and third in scoring on Par Fours (4.16), as the entire Jasper team finished within the top-40.
Senior
Preston Shortell (Oxford, CT / Holy Cross) carded a 76 to finish in a tie for 28th. Junior
Justin Ming (Pelham, NY / Pelham) fired a 37 on the front nine on his way to a share of 33rd place and a score of 77. Freshman
Lincoln Haymaker (Nashville, TN / Davidson Academy) and sophomore
Jimmy Escoto (Laredo, TX / John B. Alexander) each recorded scores of 78 to finish in a tie for 37th.
The event was scheduled to be a two-day tournament, but the second round was canceled due to rain.
Max Palmer of Robert Morris earned medalist honors with a score of 68 (-4) and Robert Morris captured the team title with a score of 289 (+1).
The Jaspers will take part in the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championships at Montclair Golf Club in West Orange, NJ, starting on Monday, October 28.
