Riverdale, NY – Manhattan opens up MAAC play with its first home games of the 2019 campaign this week, as the Jaspers welcome Monmouth and Quinnipiac to Gaelic Park.

The Schedule:

Quinnipiac (Saturday, October 5 - 2:00 pm)

Last Time Out: Manhattan won its first game of the season in dramatic fashion as junior Berti Fourrier sent a beautiful long ball into the box that senior Noah Amissah volleyed into the back of the net in a 2-1 win over Fordham. Amissah's first goal of the season lifted the Jaspers to their second-straight over 'Battle of the Bronx' win.

It Was A Good Week: Fourrier was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against Fordham. Fourrier had a hand in both goals against the Rams, assisting on the game-winning scored in the 93rd minute, after scoring the Jaspers' first goal in the 64th minute. It was the first weekly award of Fourrier's career and the third weekly MAAC accolade bestowed upon a Manhattan soccer student-athlete this year.

Testing Yourself: Manhattan's six non-conference opponents are 31-16-4 so far on the season. Three opponents (UConn, Rutgers, St. John's) have spent time ranked in the Top 25 by the United Soccer Coaches' Poll, with St. John's currently in the 12th spot and Rutgers receiving votes. Lehigh and St. Francis of Brooklyn are also ranked in the Top 10 in the United Soccer Coaches regional polls.

Awana Named A Senior Class Candidate: Senior Adrien Awana was selected as one of 30 candidates for 2019 Men's Soccer Senior CLASS® Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
