Riverdale, NY - The Manhattan men's cross country team placed second at the 2019 Metropolitan Championships in Van Cortlandt Park on Friday, October 11, finishing with an average team time of 26:59. The Jaspers have finished second place or higher in the meet since 2016.
Highlights:
- Ryan Lindrud (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge) was the first Jasper finisher Friday, earning eighth place overall with a time of 26:33.5 for the five-mile course. It was his best five-mile time of the season and his first performance in VCP.
- Pelle Nogueira (Glen Ridge, NJ / Glen Ridge) finished 10th in the race, boosting Manhattan's team finish with a time of 26:38.2.
- Michael Hennelly (Suffern, NY / Suffern) secured a five-mile PR in the meet, hitting a time of 26:55.0 and earning 14th place. The Jaspers' other top-20 finisher was David Lozipone (Massapequa Park, NY / Kellenberg Memorial), who also earned a PR at 27:01.7 to secure 16th place overall.
- Andria Scaglione (Oceanside, NY / Oceanside) came in first for the Manhattan women, finishing sixth overall with a PR time of 18:55.6, her first under-19 5K finish.
- Nicola Scaglione (Oceanside, NY / Oceanside) came in 11th with a time of 19:23.7, the second Manhattan women's finisher, while Rory Graham (Burnt Hills, NY / Burnt Hills-Balston Lake) nabbed 13th place, recording a time of 19:31.6.
- The Manhattan women finished sixth as a team.
