Jasper Women Take On Day One Of Terrier Classic

Boston, MA - Manhattan women's track and field garnered five top-10 finishes Friday, January 25 at the annual BU Terrier Classic in Boston. The meet continues Saturday, starting with men's field events at 10:30 a.m.

Highlights:

• Freshman Nina Bjorkman (Vasteras, Sweden / Widenska Idrottsgymnasium) earned a personal best in the women's weight throw, hitting 16.53 meters, good for fifth place overall. Bjorkman opened the season with her previous personal best of 16.52 on December 1. 
• Sophomore Zarah Harris (Montgomery, NY / Valley Central) also hit a personal best on Friday, placing eighth in the 500-meters with a time of 1:15.18. She bested her previous career-high of 1:15.36 set in December 2017.
• Lasma Padedze (Ogre, Latvia / Ogre Secondary School No. 1) placed fourth in the women's shot put, throwing a distance of 13.89 meters. Padedze has placed in the top four in the event in each meet so far this season, including two first-place showings. Her teammate Alexandra Preckajlo (Ocean, NJ / St. Rose) secured a 10th-place finish on Friday with a 12.76-meter throw. 
• The women's 4x400 squad placed 10th at BU, finishing with a time of 3:55.21. The team of Harris, Chinelo Nnakwe (Central Islip, NY / Saint Anthony's), Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA / Pennsbury) and Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY / Hauppauge) placed the highest of all MAAC teams (Rider, Quinnipiac, Marist) in the race.
