Bronx, NY - Manhattan track and field earned four individual field event wins on Friday at Fordham's Brian Horowitz Invitational, the Jaspers' first meet of the new year.
Highlights:
- Anu Awonusi (Dublin, Ireland / Kilkenny College) secured first place in the men's shot put with a IC4A-qualifying 16.42 meters.
- Teammate Alexandra Preckajlo (Ocean, NJ / St. Rose) also earned a win in the women's shot, hitting 13.58 meters and qualifying for the ECAC championships. Fellow Jasper Cheyenne Lewis (Queens, NY / Washingtonville) took second with a throw of 11.42 meters.
- Nina Bjorkman won the women's weight throw at Fordham on Friday, posting a distance of 15.25 meters. Preckajlo earned third in the event, hitting 12.90 meters.
- Senior Eric Waugh (Wheatley Heights, NY / Half Hollow Hills West) won the men's weight throw, recording 16.13 meters in the event. It was Waugh's first try at the weight throw since last year's Brother Jasper Invitational on February 23, 2018.
- Freshman Aidan Donahue (Rockaway Park, NY / Xavier) placed third in the men's 3,000-meters, finishing with a time of 8:50.22. Senior Nick Matson (Clifton Park, NY / Shenendehowa) followed close behind in fourth, recording a time of 8:50.73.
- Senior Erin Spadaccini (Wilmington, DE / Padua Academy) earned a top-three showing in the women's mile, hitting a time of 5:17.04. Teammate Hali Ielfield (Glenfield, NY / South Lewis Central) placed fourth with a time of 5:18.18.
