Jaspers Excel at Weekend Meets

Colonial Relays (Results) | Sam Howell Invitational (Results) | TCNJ Invitational (Results)

Riverdale, NY -
Manhattan track and field traveled the East Coast this weekend, collecting school records, personal bests, and ECAC/IC4A qualifying standards.

At the 2018 Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, VA, junior Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Kearney) set a school record in her 10,000-meter race debut, finishing in a time of 35:20.63 and placing second in the meet for ECAC qualification. Fajardo bested the previous record (35:54.90) set by Edith Vilardi at the Penn Relays in 1986.

Distance runners Chad Maier (Melville, NY / Walt Whitman) and Chris Orlando (Newburyport, MA / Newburyport) also tackled the 10K race, both earning personal bests and qualifying for IC4As. Maier finished third with a time of 30:00.29, while Orlando was just two spots behind him in fifth with a time of 30:08.59.

Senior Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, NJ / Bishop McCarrick) qualified for ECACs in the women's 800, as well, while Manhattan's women's 4x800 team, made up of Kaitlyn Smith (Effort, PA / Pleasant Valley), Erin Spadaccini (Wilmington, DE / Padua Academy), Gabby Fanning (Cornwall, NY / Cornwall Central) and Gorman earned a third-place finish at the Colonial Relays.

Competing at Princeton's Sam Howell Invitational this past weekend, senior Ire Bozovicar (Potoki, Slovenia / Gimazija Jesenice) earned a first-place finish in the discus, hitting a personal best of 54.18 meters. The distance landed him in the top 50 NCAA Division I performances so far this year. It also qualified him for the IC4A championships.

Other top five finishes at Sam Howell included second-place performances for Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson) in the shot put (16.68 meters) and Eduard Winner (Tel Aviv, Israel) in the pole vault (4.75 meters). Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden / Wargentinkskolan) took third in the hammer throw, with a distance of 61.02 meters. And Timothy Iannuzzo (East Brunswick, NJ / St. Joseph) would place fifth in the javelin (51.54 meters). Both Addlesberger and Litzell would earn spots at the IC4A championships.

For the women's team, sprinter Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY / Hauppauge) took third place in the 400-meter race (57.63), while Alexandra Preckajlo (Ocean, NJ / St. Rose) earned fourth in the discus (41.70 meters). The women's 4x100 team, comprised of Paige Chapman (Abingdon, MD / Harford Technical), Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA / Pennsbury), Tiahna Mitchell, and Ana Ordonez-Retamar (Saddle River, NJ / Northern Highlands Regional) earned fourth as well, qualifying for the ECAC championships.

At the College of New Jersey on Sunday, Sean Mirando (Oakhurst, NJ / Ocean Township) took first in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.03, a personal best. Fredrik Lofgren (Lund, Sweden / Lund Unviersity) grabbed first in the high jump, recording a height of 2.00 meters.
