Ire Bozovicar (Potoki, Slovenia / Gimazija Jesenice) took home first place in the discus at the 2018 Shamrock Invitational on Saturday, March 17. Hitting a distance of 53.28 meters, Bozovicar set a new personal best in the event for his collegiate career.
Bozovicar punctuated a day of high performances by the Jaspers in their first outdoor meet of the season. His teammate,
Eric Waugh (Wheatley Heights, NY / Half Hollow Hills West), followed close behind in the discus throw with a distance of 48.85, good for third place.
On the track, Manhattan senior Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, NJ / Cardinal McCarrick) earned a second-place finish in the women's 800-meter race, running in a time of 2:15.67. Junior Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Kearney) also placed second in the 3,000-meter race, with a time of 10:09.73.
Distance runner
Chad Maier (Melville, NY / Walt Whitman) took home second in the men's 3,000-meter race with a time of 8:34.90. Maier recently ran his personal best in the indoor 3,000-meter at the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Indoor Championships in February, running the race in 8:57.47.
Chris Orlando (Newburyport, MA / Newburyport) finished in third at the Shamrock Invitational with a time of 8:36.13.
Manhattan's women's 4x400 relay team earned a top five finish Saturday, with Mikeisha Kelly (Albany, NY / Colonie Central), Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA / Pennsbury), Chinelo Nnakwe (Central Islip / St. Anthony's), and Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma / Hauppauge) finishing in 3:56.74.

Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden / Wargentinskolan) took home
first place in the hammer throw at the Shamrock Invitational. Freshman field performer
Eduard Winner (Tel Aviv, Israel), the 2018 MAAC indoor champion in the pole vault, placed second in the event as well with a height of 5.05 meters.
