Myrtle Beach, SC -
Manhattan senior Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden / Wargentinskolan) took home first place in the hammer throw at the 2018 Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, SC on Friday, March 16, highlighting the Jaspers' first day of the 2018 outdoor season.

A three-time IC4A outdoor champion in the event, Litzell threw a distance of 61.12 meters, nearly three meters further than the closest competitor and a little more than a meter less than his winning throw at the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Freshman field performer Eduard Winner (Tel Aviv, Israel), the 2018 MAAC indoor champion in the pole vault, placed second in the event on Friday with a height of 5.05 meters. Winner also finished the 2018 indoor season as the field rookie of the meet at the MAAC Championships.

Rounding out the top field performances, Fredrik Lofgren (Lund, Sweden / Lund University) placed sixth in the men's high jump, hitting two meters. Freshman Fiona Ruettimann (St. Gallan, Switzerland / Kantonsschule Heerbrugg) placed ninth in the women's high jump with a height of 1.6 meters, and freshman Lasma Padedze (Ogre, Latvia / Ogre Secondary School No. 1) earned a top 10 finish in the javelin, with a throw of 35.84 meters. It was her first time competing in the event.

On the track, Manhattan's women's 4x200 team—comprised of Paige Chapman (Abingdon, MD / Harford Technical), Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY / Hauppauge), Mikeisha Kelly (Albany, NY / Colony Central) and Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA / Pennsbury)—placed third among 20 teams with a time of 1:41.30. The men's team placed sixth in the event behind Kyle Watkins (Coram, NY / Longwood), Jordan Greene (Boston, MA / Newton North), Brandon Boggs (Lumberton, NJ / Rancocas Valley Regional), and Alexander (A.J.) Moore (Colonia, NJ / John F. Kennedy). The team ran in a time of 1:29.28.
