New York, NY - Manhattan College's
Eduard Winner and Lasma Padedze (Ogre, Latvia / Ogre Secondary School No. 1) swept the Rookie of the Meet awards at the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships held February 17-18 at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center. Sophomore
Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia / William Ross), who won the men's high jump, was named the championship's Most Outstanding Field Performer.
Manhattan College track and field finished the 2018 championships with 13 total medals, good for third place on the men's side and fourth place for the women. The men's team won seven medals, including gold in the pole vault and high jump, while the women won six, including gold in the 400-meter dash, 3,000-meter run, and 4x400-meter relay.
After seeing success on day one of the competition, the Jaspers went into day two of the championships in second place on the men's side and fifth for the women. Along with Foster's gold medal in the high jump on Saturday, Winner took home the top spot in the men's pole vault, hitting a height of 4.65 meters.
Winner picked up more hardware on Sunday, starting Manhattan off with a bronze in the men's 60-meter hurdles. In the next race, senior Paige Chapman (Abingdon, MD / Harford Technical), who set a MAAC and Manhattan College record in the 60-meter dash preliminaries on day one, finished second in the event finals, running a 7.56 race and taking home the silver. Chapman earned a second silver in the women's 200-meter later in the day.
Junior Jasmine Davis (Ronkonkoma, NY / Hauppague) took gold in the women's 400-meter race with a time of 56.48, 0.30 seconds better than her closest competitor. Davis later ran anchor in the women's 4x400-meter relay, winning gold for Manhattan along with junior Mikeisha Kelly (Albany, NY / Colonie Central), sophomore Chinelo Nnakwe (Central Islip, NY / Saint Anthony's), and sophomore Niasia Boone (Morrisville, PA / Pennsbury). The team ran a 3:50.92 race.

Will Stallings (Sleepy Hollow, NY / Sleepy Hollow) won silver in the men's 400-meter race, posting a time of 48.85. He also ran anchor in the men's 4x400, helping Manhattan to a bronze in the race with teammates
Kyle Watkins (Coram, NY / Longwood), Alexander Moore (Colonia, NJ / John F. Kennedy), and
Jordan Greene (Boston, MA / Newton North).
Junior Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Kearney) rounded out the track events by winning gold in the women's 3,000-meter race. The reigning Manhattan College record-holder in the event, Fajardo completed the race in 9:47.82, nearly three-seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
In the field events, Padedze won bronze for the Jaspers in the shot put, hitting a 13.5-distance.
As a team, Monmouth finished first in both the men's (260) and women's (232) competitions. Rider came in second on the men's side with 118 points, just ahead of Manhattan's 113. Quinnipiac finished second for the women with 119 points, and Rider came in third at 117. Manhattan's 90 points were good for fourth place.
