Riverdale, NY - This is the fourth game in one week for the Manhattan College Jaspers (10-15, 7-7 MAAC) who return home to Draddy Gymnasium to take on the Siena Saints (13-12, 8-6 MAAC) for the second time this season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
Top Storylines:
- Last outing: Despite dominate 20-point performances from Kayla Grimme (Altoona, PA / Altoona Area) and Amani Tatum (Cambria Heights, NY / James Madison), the Jaspers found themselves on the losing end of their first overtime game in five seasons Monday, February 12, falling to Monmouth 63-59 at the OceanFirst Bank Center.
- Manhattan is currently fourth in the league in scoring defense, allowing just 61.6 points per game. The Jaspers are fifth in field goal percentage (.398) and in three-point field goal percentage (.310), with Grimme, Tatum, and sophomore Gabby Cajou (Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) ranked among the top 30 scorers in the league. The Jaspers lead the MAAC in rebounding defense at 33.9 per game. The team is third in steals per game (8.4), assists per game (14.2), and blocks per game (3.6).
- This season, Siena is averaging 61.1 points per game and has scored 70 or more in eight games. The team is also fifth in scoring defense, holding opponents to 63.2 points per game. The Saints are second in the conference in steals per game (9.6) and hold the third-highest turnover margin at +1.2.
- The Saints are led by Kollyns Scarbrough, who currently sits at third in the MAAC in scoring at 15.7 per game, and fifth in rebounding at 7.4 per game. She leads the league in field goal percentage (.509).
- Previous meeting: Down 15 with 8:31 left to play in the game, Manhattan went on a 15-4 run to cut Siena's lead to as little as three during a conference match-up between the two teams on Friday, January 26 at the Alumni Recreation Center. But the Jaspers were unable to overtake the Saints, ultimately losing the contest 56-51.
- Siena leads the all-time series 43-22. The Jaspers last defeated the Saints in Draddy Gymnasium on December 30, 2016, when Manhattan rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to take the win 68-66. It was the Jaspers' first MAAC win of the 2016-17 season and Head Coach Heather Vulin's first league win of her head coaching career.
- Tatum currently ranks 22nd among Division I players in three-point field goal percentage (43.7). She is 32nd in the country for steals overall this season (67) and 38th in steals per game (2.68). Tatum also leads the MAAC in these categories, as well as in assists per game (4.4). In the Jaspers' January 28 game against Monmouth, she threw the 300th assist of her Manhattan career. She now has 327, just one away from eighth place on the all-time list.
- Grimme is currently seventh in the MAAC in scoring (14.7) per game and fourth in rebounding (8.0) per game. She is first in offensive rebounding (3.4) per game and second in blocked shots (1.7) per game.
- Cajou ranks second in the league in field-goal percentage (.494). She is fourth in assists (4.0) per game, sixth in steals per game (1.9), and holds the league's third-best assist/turnover ratio at 1.9.
