Pioneers Best Jaspers

Riverdale, NY - Manhattan freshman Kania Pollock (Queens, NY / The Mary Louis Academy) nabbed a collegiate-high 14 points against Sacred Heart on Sunday, December 16, but the Jaspers were unable to overcome the Pioneers' 54 percent shooting, losing the contest 74-46.

Manhattan falls to 2-8 on the year, while Sacred Heart improves to 4-5.

Highlights:
  • Lynette Taitt (Irvington, NJ / Bishop Loughlin) earned a career-high six assists for the day to lead all the players. Taitt's previous career high of three assists came in November of last year against Coppin State, and her six on Sunday is just one short of a team best for the year.
  • Taitt also earned a game-high four steals, another career-high.
  • Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA / Bishop Shanahan) pulled down eight boards to lead Manhattan. The Jaspers out-rebounded the Pioneers 39-34, including a 19-5 advantage on the offensive boards.
  • Manhattan's 39 rebounds is the second-best performance on the boards for the team this season, just five-less than its season best of 44 against Wright State.
  • The Jaspers shot 46.2 percent in the third quarter, the team's best period of the contest. Manhattan went 6-13 from the floor, including 2-2 from three, for 16 points, tying Sacred Heart in the stanza.
  • The Pioneers' Katherine Haines led all scorers with 19 points, while also pulling down a game-high 10 rebounds.
  • Sacred Heart gains the slight advantage in the all-time series, which now sits at 4-3.
