Amherst, NY - Competing in the Buffalo snow, Manhattan freshman Hali Ielfield (Glenfield, NY / South Lewis Central) earned the Jaspers' top finish in the NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regionals on Friday, November 9, placing 58th out of a field of 244 runners with a time of 23:04.0.

Teammate Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Kearney) finished just two-tenths of a second behind Ielfield, placing 59th with a time of 23:04.2.

Ielfield and Fajardo have consistently finished close throughout this season, coming in at 1-2 for the Jaspers each time the pair competed together. Friday marked the second time Ielfield has finished ahead of Fajardo this season; she previously earned Manhattan's best finish (14th) at the Paul Short Run on September 29.

On Friday, Fajardo improved upon her 2017 NCAA Regional finish of 78th, running the 6K race 12 seconds faster than last year. In 2016, she finished 65th (21:55.3), and she placed 125th (22:56.9) in her freshman campaign.
