Jaspers Fall To Rider In First Meeting

Lawrenceville, NJ - Manhattan volleyball fell to the Rider Broncs in the first meeting of the two teams this season on November 3 in Lawrenceville, NJ. 

The Jaspers' record goes to 4-23 for the year and 2-12 in the MAAC. Rider, third in the MAAC standings going into the weekend, improves to 15-9 overall and 10-5 in conference. 

Highlights:
  • Manhattan was victorious in the first set, winning 25-21 behind four kills from senior Sandra Lozanova (Pernik, Bulgaria / Fresno State). But Rider was able to stage a comeback, taking the remaining three sets 25-19, 25-16, and 25-14.
  • Lozanova led the Jaspers with 10 kills in the match, her fourth double-digit kill performance of the season, and tying her season high. Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) added five kills to Manhattan's attack. 
  • Lozanova led all players with three aces, taking her season average to .48 aces per set, tied for first in the MAAC. The Jaspers earned eight total aces in the match.
  • Setter Shruti Mangipudi (San Ramon, CA / Doughtery Valley) earned an assist/dig double-double performance against the Broncs, nabbing 18 assists and 21 digs. It's her fifth double-double of the season. 
  • Reyn Hoffman (Ventura, CA / Ventura) nearly tied her career-high 22 digs earned in five sets last week at Niagara: She had 20 in four sets against Rider. 
  • Donovan led Manhattan with three blocks. Teammate Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) added two. 
  • Rider's Savannah Logan led all players with 12 kills, while Hailey Riede and Alexa Shello each added 11 for the Broncs. 
  • Caprice Clark earned a match-high six blocks for Rider.

Manhattan will remain in New Jersey for a rematch against Saint Peter's on Sunday, November 4 starting at 1:00 p.m.
