Manhattan Honors Swimming Class of 2019 On Senior Day

Riverdale, NY – Before Manhattan swimming and diving challenged Monmouth and Siena in a MAAC tri-meet, the Jaspers recognized their nine-member senior class on Saturday afternoon at the Ethical Culture Fieldston School.
 
In a Senior Day ceremony, Manhattan celebrated seniors Abie DeLisio, Morgan Fountain, Genna Lederer, Klaudia Nagrabska, Megan Pagano, Cassandra Rubino, Kathryn Voitik, Evan Battisti and Tameryn Huffman. Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Marianne Reilly and Assistant Athletic Director William Aloia Jr. presented each Jasper with a senior plaque as public address announcer Martin Collins listed their career accomplishments.
 
In the pool, the Hawks topped the Jasper men's and women's team 165-94 and 158-101, respectively. The women's team narrowly fell to Siena, 143-116.
 
The Jaspers will turn their attention to the 2018 ECAC Winter Championships, which begin on Friday, November 30 at 6:00 pm the Nassau County Aquatics Center in East Meadow, NY. The event lasts until Sunday, December 2.
 
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • It was a tremendous outing for junior Kelsey Eastman (Effort, PA / Wagner). She took home three individual golds while accumulating season-bests in the 100 Breast (1:09.27), 50 Free (25.16 seconds) and 100 Free (55.35 seconds).
  • Eastman also combined with Fountain, classmate Kali Nembach (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook Senior) and freshman Jamie Quinn (Fairfax, VA / WT Woodson). Eastman, Nembach and Fountain went first, second and fourth in the 50 Free.
  • Freshman Sarah Hamilton (Auckland, New Zealand / St. Cuthbert's College) captured first place in the 200 Free with a time of 2:01.39. She later nabbed the bronze in the 400 IM in 5:56.50.
  • Quinn, Nagrabska, Rubino and Nembach finished second in the 200 Medley Relay in 1:54.88.
  • In addition to her relay performances, Quinn also medaled in the 100 Back, recording a season-best 1:02.98 to place third.
  • Junior Carolyn Crocker (Broad Channel, NY / Archbishop Molloy) was third in the 500 Free thanks to a time of 5:31.43, a personal best for her this season.
 
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Junior Tyler Dalton (East Stroudsburg, PA / Pocono Mountain East) was first place in the 400 IM with a time of 4:22.26. He was also the fastest Jasper in the 200 Fly at 2:11.26, placing third.
  • Classmate Timothy Valentine (Massapequa, NY / Chaminade) was the fastest swimmer in the 100 Breast with a first-place time of 1:00.45, a season-best for a Jasper.
  • The Manhattan men excelled in relays, as the quartet of Battisti, sophomores Charles Ledda (New Fairfield, CT / New Fairfield) and Derek Lederer (Blauvelt, NY / Tappan Zee) and freshman Matthew Shen (Waxhaw, NC / Marvin Ridge) won the 200 Free Relay in 1:29.11. The Jaspers also had two relay teams place second in the 200 Free Relay and 200 Medley Relay.
  • Freshman Branden Deiss (Benoni, South Africa / Crawford College Lonehill) collected two silvers, stemming from his efforts in the 500 Free (4:54.11) and the 1000 Free (10:11.01).
  • Classmate Kyle Bergin (Lynbrook, NY / Lynbrook Senior) also earned a pair of second-place marks, with his results in the 100 Free (49.12 seconds) and the 200 Free (1:48.48).
  • In the 200 Breast, junior Will Kulp (New Fairfield, CT / New Fairfield), Valentine and freshman Sean Flynn (Suffern, NY / Suffern Senior) went third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
  • Shen was third in the 100 Back in 56.85 seconds.
 
THE SENIOR CLASS OF 2019

Abie DeLisio
  • She is a four-year member of Jasper swimming.
  • She finished as Manhattan's second-fastest 1650-yard Freestyle swimmer at the 2018 MAAC championships.
  • In the past two seasons, she recorded two wins against Baruch College in the 800 Short-Course Meter Freestyle and the 500-yard Freestyle.
  • She will graduate in May with a degree in marketing.
 
Morgan Fountain
  • She is a four-year member and a captain of Jasper swimming.
  • She is part of the 400-yard Freestyle Relay that holds the school record after setting it in the 2018 MAAC championships.
  • A versatile swimmer, she competed in four disciplines at the 2017 ECAC Winter Championships.
  • She will graduate in May with a degree in communications with a concentration in broadcasting.
 
Genna Lederer
  • A four-year member of Jasper swimming, she did her best work in the ECACs.
  • In her sophomore campaign, she established a personal best in the 100-yard Backstroke.
  • Last season, she reached season-bests in the 50 and 100-yard Freestyle in the 2017 ECAC Winter Championships.
  • She will graduate in May with a degree in civil engineering.
 
Klaudia Nagrabska
  • She is a four-year member of Jasper swimming.
  • She is part of the school records in the women's 200 and 400-yard Medley Relays, both set last year in the MAAC Championships.
  • In addition, she won the "B" final last year in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a career-best.
  • She will graduate in May with a degree in marketing.
 
Megan Pagano
  • She is a four-year member of Jasper swimming.
  • She also swam legs in the record-breaking 200- and 400-yard Medley Relays in last year's MAAC Championships.
  • She also swam the fastest 100 and 200-yard Backstroke in her freshman year, and placed 12th in the latter event at the 2017 ECAC Winter Championships.
  • A 2018 MAAC All-Academic selection, she will graduate in May with a degree in accounting.
 
Cassandra Rubino
  • She is a four-year member of Jasper swimming.
  • She was Manhattan's top finisher in the 200-yard Butterfly in last year's tri-meet against Monmouth and Siena.
  • In the past two seasons, she has placed in the top 20 in the 100-yard Butterfly at the ECAC Winter Championships and was 12th in the event at the 2017 MAAC Championships.
  • A 2018 MAAC All-Academic selection, she will graduate in May with a degree in mathematics and education.
 
Kathryn Voitik
  • She is a four-year member of Jasper swimming.
  • She currently holds three school records in the 500, 1000 and 1650-yard Freestyle.
  • She was Manhattan's top finisher in the 1650 Free at the 2018 MAAC Championships and won the gold in the 500 Free in the dual meet at Pepperdine last season.
  • She will graduate in May with a degree in communications with a concentration in broadcasting.
 
Evan Battisti
  • He is a four-year member and a captain of Jasper swimming.
  • His etched his name in three school records last year: the 500- and 1650-yard Freestyle as well as the 800-yard Freestyle Relay.
  • In 2017, he also notched two top-10 marks in the ECAC Winter Championships and was first in the 1000 Free in the Brooklyn Invite and the dual meet vs. Monmouth.
  • He will graduate in May with a degree in accounting.
     
Tameryn Huffman
  • He is a four-year member of Jasper swimming.
  • He started his career with the fastest time on the roster in the 200-yard Backstroke.
  • Last year, he had three top-25 finishes in the 100 and 200 Back as well as the 400 IM.
  • He will graduate in May with a degree in biochemistry and pre-med allied health.
