Riverdale, NY -
IUPUI held off a late-charging Manhattan squad by a 1-0 count in non-conference action at Gaelic Park.

The Jaguars improve to 2-3 while the Jaspers fall to 1-3-1.

Manhattan threatened to tie it up the match late in the second half with a pair of scoring opportunities.

In the 75th minute, sophomore Arianna Montefusco (Levittown, NY / General Douglas MacArthur) blasted a shot from 30 yards that was corralled by Sophia Lipka.

Just under four minutes later, sophomore Emma Boss (Holden, MA / Wachusett Regional) delivered a beautiful through ball to a streaking Erica Modena (Massapequa, NY / Massapequa) to set up the senior striker with a 1v1 opportunity against Lipka. Unfortunately, Lipka was able to dive at the last moment and deflect Modena's shot.

That would be the last shot on goal for the Jaspers, which outshot the visitors by an 8-7 count after halftime.

In the first half, the Jaguars registered a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks only to be denied each time by the strong play of junior Kelly DiGregorio (Centerreach, NY / St. Anthony's). After applying pressure for most of the stanza, the visitors finally broke through with just 52 seconds remaining until halftime when Valentine Pursey scored off a Leia Peterman pass.

Lipka made five saves in earning her second win of the year while DiGregorio netted two stops for Manhattan in being saddled the tough-luck loss.
