Orlando, FL - UCF used a pair of big innings em route to defeating Manhattan 10-1 at the UCF Baseball Complex in the second of a three-game series.
The Golden Knights improve to 6-0 while the Jaspers fall to 0-2.
Junior Tom Cosgrove (Staten Island, NY / Farrell) set down the side in order in the first inning before UCF put up a five-spot in the second inning.
Manhattan got one of those runs back in the top of the third thanks to Paul Genners' (Jacksonville, FL / Stanton College Prep) first career home run.
Cosgrove then got back on track in the bottom part of the frame in striking out the side before retiring the side in order in the fourth and fifth innings.
The Golden Knights added to the lead in bottom of the sixth with a two-out RBI single en route to opening up an 8-1 advantage while chasing Cosgrove from the game.
UCF would add two more runs in providing the final 10-1 count.
Six different Jaspers hit safely, highlighted by Paul Genners' third-inning home run while sophomore Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) added a double.
Cosgrove was saddled with the loss, despite striking out seven over 5.2 innings of work.
Bryce Peterson went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and four runs to pace an 11-hit UCF attack.
Joel Pimentel struck out six over 6.0 innings of one-run ball while yielding just four hits en route to earning the victory for the Golden Knights.
The teams will conclude their three-game series tomorrow at 12:00 pm.
