Men's Diving Recognized As Jaspers Conclude ECAC Winter Championships

East Meadow, NY – Men's diver Matthew Broadmeadow (Seekonk, MA / Seekonk) and diving coach Micah Rembrandt were selected as the Male Diver and Male Diving Coach of the 2017 ECAC Championships as Manhattan wrapped up the three-day competition on Sunday.

The pair earns the honors after Broadmeadow won both of his events in the meet. On Friday, the sophomore took home the three-meter title with a score of 211.55. He followed that up with a first place finish in the one-meter event on Sunday morning, compiling 189.95 points.

"It has been quite a successful weekend, with the team growing in skill and confidence throughout," said Head Coach Molly Belk. "I am very proud of our Jaspers! We posted season best times all around and it's encouraging to see hard work pay off.  I am extremely pleased with our student athletes' energy on deck, sportsmanship and their fastest swimming this season.  I look forward to riding this momentum into winter training and am excited to see what we can accomplish next." 
 
The men's team collected 444.5 points to take home ninth place. Emmanuel College (GA) won the men's title with 1,685 points.
 
The Jaspers performed well in the relays with two top-six finishes. Kevin Richard, Tyler Dalton, Tyler McCloskey and Charles Ledda swam the 200-yard medley relay in 1:39.19, good for fifth place. McCloskey, Dalton, Evan Battisti and Brandon Shields captured sixth place in the 800-yard Freestyle relay in 7:18.74. Ledda also earned valuable points for the Jaspers by scoring 18th in the Men's 50 Free and Men's 100 Free with times of 22.26 and 48.73 seconds, respectively. 
 
The women's side finished in 15th place, compiling 187 points. Wagner won the championship with 1,277 points.
 
One school record fell for the women over the weekend. Senior Audrey Corcoran (West Boylston, MA / West Boylston) broke the 400-yard IM mark with a time of 4:43.20. Corcoran topped the previous time of 4:50.06, set in 2009 by Bridget Latino '12.

Senior Ally Hutzler (Miller Place, NY / Miller Place) was Manhattan's individual leader with 26 points, including a 10th place finish in the 100-yard Butterfly.
 
The Jaspers return to the pool on Wednesday, December 6 when they visit Fordham in the annual Battle of the Bronx at 6:00 pm. This will be the final meet in the 2017 calendar year for Manhattan Swimming.
