Miami, FL - Miami (FL) scored the first nine runs en route to posting a 14-4 win over Manhattan at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.
The Hurricanes improve to 8-2 while the Jaspers fall to 1-4.
Trailing 9-0 in the sixth, sophomore Brendan Bisset (New City, NY / Don Bosco Prep (NJ)) led off the frame with a single before moving to third on a Christian Santisteban (Sr., Miami, FL / Gulliver Prep) double. Bisset then crossed the plate on Chris Reynolds' (Wall, NJ / St. Rose) sacrifice fly before Santisteban came around to score on a Ryan Gronlier (So., Doral, FL / Doral Academy) RBI single.
Miami (FL) immediately got those runs back in the bottom of the frame before Manhattan struck for two more in the seventh. Junior Jose Carrera (Miami, FL / St. Brendan) led off with a double and sophomore Paul Genners (Jacksonville, FL / Stanton College Prep) followed with a walk. Santisteban then plated Carrera with a RBI single and Genners scored on Fabian Pena's (Fr., Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) RBI ground out to make it an 11-4 game.
Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Jaspers would get.
Santisteban was 2-for-4 with a run, RBI and walk to pace a seven-hit attack with 10 different Manhattan players reaching base safely.
Zack Collins was 2-for-2 with a home run and three RBI to lead the way for Miami (FL).
Michael Mediavilla (3-0) struck out five and allowed just one earned run over 6.0 innings in earning the victory.
The teams will conclude their season on Sunday, March 6 with first pitch on ESPN3 slated for 1:00 pm.
